How many times have you thought about building your family tree, and preserving your family history for generations to come? A family tree can be used to record ancestors across generations. Building a family tree can seem like a daunting process, but it shouldn’t. Often the greatest obstacle may seem like figuring out where to start, as well as devising which resources to use to gather your family history. Finding people can be difficult, but there are a number of ways to find people via people search services, simply Google: “people search” and you will find a multitude of people finding services at your disposal.

Many times, however, the best people finding resources for family tree building are living family members, who may be able to provide you with names and photographs of relatives. Get the kids involved by having them interview family members and record their stories. Find out if any of your family members kept diaries, journals or old letters. It won’t hurt to check your local libraries, old newspapers, cemeteries and courthouse records as well – which are all tangible resources to find people. Of course, the internet is a wealth of information thanks to the many genealogy sites that can assist you with your family research and data organization.
