It’s a sick curiosity. A morbid fascination, if you will. What happened to all those “best” friends from high school? You don’t want to care, but you do. Perhaps you can’t wait for the reunion, or maybe you skipped it because you had better things to do. There is always the possibility you genuinely want to find a former best friend, or the high school sweetheart who got away. Whatever the motivation is, if you need to find old friends from high school, it can be done. Finding people online is easy now with many sites offering extensive databases full of people’s contact information. It might make you uncomfortable to think about your information floating around the Internet, but you also have to realize how useful it can be. What if your former best friend is trying to contact you?
There are a lot of classmate finder sites out there, but not all of them are worth your time. After much research, we suggest you avoid GradFinder.com and AlumniNet.com. While both these sites might have good data, their site design is hard to navigate, and can be overwhelming. Conversely, Reunion.com is a well-designed lost-friend-finding site that also serves as somewhat of a social network. Think MySpace with the professed intent of reuniting people. Run a people search, but then stay a while. Create your own public profile to upload pictures, write a blog, and accumulate a list of friends. It’s a great way to help your old friends find you!
We also found that Classmates.com was pretty extensive and easy to use. Although not simultaneously a social network like Reunion.com, they have a very extensive database that not only allows you to search high schools, but also colleges, work places, and the military. The site is easy to use, and provides clear steps to follow.
If you’re ready for serious people searching, we suggest you check out Privateeye.com. This site is people search engine powerhouse. Say that five times fast. But seriously, it really has the most straightforward people search application. It’s a great site because not only can you search a person, but you can retrieve all kinds of records such as property, criminal, marriage, and more. So whether you are people searching to get the gossip, want to reconnect with an old friend, or see if the flame still burns for that high school sweetheart, get online to one of these awesome sites.
