With 2008 rapidly approaching, it’s a great time of year to spend some time rediscovering… YOU! This year, take a moment (or ten) to reevaluate what you could use more of, and what you don’t need. Reinventing yourself isn’t just for the likes of Madonna and John Travolta.
Mind Your Mind: Perhaps it’s time to turn off the boob tube, and flip through a few pages of that book you’ve been meaning to read. Don’t have one of those? Spend a Saturday perusing your local library and see what you can find. It might force you to read it in two weeks. Rather buy the book? Head on over to your nearest Barnes and Noble and immerse yourself in best sellers and cappuccinos.
Tune Into Your Body: Perhaps you want to finally shed those stubborn pounds, or maybe you just want to tone up? Look into a gym membership at your local 24 Hour Fitness. They have so many locations you’ll never have an excuse not to go!
Overhaul Your Wellbeing: Reserve a spot in your schedule to volunteer your time to whatever organization you are passionate about. This can be as simple as volunteering at your child’s school (which will have the added benefit of allowing you to spend more time with your kids, their peers and other parents). Don’t have children? Check out VolunteerMatch.org and have them match you up with perfect community service project!
In the end, you can always find ways to become a better you! So stop making excuses and make some time find a better self in 2008. It’ll benefit you and the people in your life!
