Finding Out the Truth About Your Significant Other

Love can be a dirty game. Way too many people lie, cheat, and steal without any regard for their significant others. The effects can be seen in US marriage statistics: over 50% of all marriages now end in divorce. While some say that stat is misleading and indicative of the women’s liberation movement - which made it easier for women to escape abusive marriages - it’s pretty obvious that our idea of love has become warped. I mean, isn’t love supposed to be about, well… love? You might be thinking that you’re exempt from all this. You have a strong relationship with your significant other or spouse, and you feel secure in their commitment to you.

But can you really know for sure?

Hiring a private investigator to tail them during the day is expensive, and besides: if they’re cheating on you, it can be pretty easy to figure out. Tell tale signs abound, and if you’re sensing discontent or discord in the relationship, you’re probably spot on and need to discuss things head-on with your significant other. But lies can go much deeper than mere infidelity. What if you found out they weren’t who they said they were? What if the foundation for the entire relationship had its origins in a blatant, bold-faced lie? Imagine if your spouse lied about a criminal background - and you never found out before having children with him. Or think of how terrible you’d feel if your girlfriend was actually still married! Wouldn’t you feel completely betrayed and heartbroken? Romantic love is the closest, most sacred human bond in the world. It is a surrender. It is laying bare your soul to another. In the best cases, love is a beautiful thing given freely and without reservations. But without trust, true love is an impossible task; the shattering of trust between loved ones destroys the relationship, and many people hide from the truth so as not to upset the balance. But that’s living a lie. You don’t want to live a lie, do you?

Finding Death Records

Amateur genealogy has become a booming business for people with a deep interest in their personal heritage. Many 20th century immigrants deliberately obscured the customs of their homeland so as to create a life for their children untouched by prejudice based on race or nationality. Now, however, with the equalizing force of globalization stripping so many cultures of their individuality, many people have embraced genealogy as a way to define their place in the ever shrinking world by illuminating their ancestry.

Successful genealogical research is a difficult, time consuming activity that often takes twice as much energy and dedication that one might initially think. It can involve traveling long distances, struggling with an unhelpful bureaucracy, cutting through red tape, and spending long hours in the county courthouse, combing through ancient records in a disorganized, dusty archive. Luckily, the Internet has made it possible to bypass a lot of the more tedious aspects of genealogical research by cataloging the records most prized by researchers online, in easily searched databases.

Even with the abundant resources offered by Internet, many people still become discouraged when they cannot find exactly who they’re looking for. Most times this is a case of not knowing where to look in the first place. Searching through newspaper articles, marriage announcements, and census records often leads nowhere as many people - elusive, illegal, or invisible - never had their names put on a permanent record. However, there is one public record that nearly every person has attached to their name: a death record.

Are you the proud owner of a brand new startup company? Congratulations! You’re on the road to a long and successful career in the field of your choice. No more pointless scrambling up the corporate ladder for you! Soon, you’ll be setting your own hours and bossing around your minions like a pro. But first, you’ll need to find some underlings.

As you probably already know, finding a few good workers to support your company when you’re essentially penniless is nigh impossible. It might as well be chiseled in stone that people (especially the kind of people you want working for you) won’t work for nothing. However, unless you’re independently wealthy and can finance an entire payroll yourself, hiring employees will be a death sentence for your nascent company.

What a lot of startup owners don’t understand is that their business, especially in its infancy, shouldn’t necessarily follow the business plans used by more established companies. This doesn’t mean you should just hire any old dude or dudette off the street who’ll work for peanuts - that would certainly be a recipe for disaster. No, instead of focusing on what you don’t have, you need to find a different way of attracting quality workers to your company and highlight your strengths.
